enabled Ray Hunter Florist to build what many would consider to be an impossible project in nine short months. This ability did come with a price.

“If we had been able to build in one phase, the project definitely would have gone much quicker,” said Wilkie. “We could have taken at least 40 percent off the construction time.”
Despite this, Ray Hunter, Jr., general manager of Ray Hunter Florist, is pleased that the project was possible at all. Although he wanted a new facility, Hunter realized that he could not begin working on one until he could

 

he could not begin working on one until he could be sure that his business would not be interrupted. Even though he had to conduct business over the telephone for a short period of time, the construction team made it possible for him to stay open during the entire project.

“When we decided to do this, our biggest concern was getting done on time and within our seasonal restraints,” he said. “That’s why we chose John (Wilkie) and his team. We knew that we had to get it done on time, and we needed the best people
doing it.”

           
  The construction team had to bring in materials shortly before they were needed and place them in the limited lay-down areas which were available on the site.
